what is it?

The Fringe Performance Archive (FPA) is an annual sample of approximately 1% of shows performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, children’s shows, musicals). Two to four dozen shows are recorded each year in their entirety.

FRINGE PERFORMANCE ARCHIVE LIMITED is a company incorporated in Scotland under the Companies Acts (registered number SC367837) with a registered office at Quartermile One, 15 Lauriston Place, Edinburgh, EH3 9EP.

The exclusive purpose of the Fringe Performance Archive is to acquire recordings at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the National Library of Scotland. The National Library of Scotland Act (2012) specifies the functions of the library: preserving, conserving, and developing its collections as well as making them “accessible to the public and to persons wishing to carry out study and research.”
